Literature Text

A patient little flower sits on the grass,
it watched all the time as it would pass.
Waiting day and night for the one drop of rain,
just a single drop was all he needed to gain.

In order to grow, he would wait patiently,
not at all like a busy bee.
The animals that passed would laugh and laugh,
"You're silly," said a rabbit. "Don't be so daft!"

"Be patient in this very busy life?"
"You might as well suffer in your own strife!"
"We all need water, and the way we get it,
is by finding even a small water pit."

"You can't just sit there and expect it to rain,
that won't give you any small sort of gain!"
The rabbit continued laughing as it bounded off,
leaving the flower to wait for some meaningful broth.

Along came a bird with its wings a-blazing,
the look it had seemed to be crazing.
Seeing the flower, it was quite curious,
wondering if it were down right delirious.

"Do my eyes deceive me? A flower in nowhere?
What are you doing, you should go somewhere!"
The bird dropped to the ground and gave the flower a look,
after a moment, its head it shook.

"You see, little flower, why do you just sit there?
If you get rid of those roots, you could go anywhere!"
The flower looked back with a sheepish grin
and said "my roots are still here, and they stay within."

The bird gave a sigh and flapped its wings wildly,
rising into the air, it said quite mildly,
"Good luck to your ideas and how strange they may be,
but be careful what you think, and don't come running to me!"

When the bird flew off, the flower, he sighed,
it's like they're all thinking that he should have died.
Can't they just sit down and wait for a moment?
Before he finished thinking, in came a rodent.

"Greetings, sir flower! I see you're doing fine.
What is mine is yours and what is yours is mine.
So tell me, fine flower, what ails you this day?
Why do the animals want to treat you this way?"

"It's not of concern, to be honest, you see.
The always have to go places in a hurry.
While I sit right here, and be a good patient flower,
waiting for rain to give me a cool shower."

"I see why they think you are a foolish small thing,
but maybe that bird got something caught in its wing.
That rabbits big hop was a bit out of step,
one fatal flaw to him and his rep."

"Don't worry, small flower, stay right where you are,
those animals are foolish, they can't stay on par.
They look for water when they do not think,
the rain will shower them with a nice drink."

"Have faith, young flower, for all that you know,
the more faith that you have, the more you will grow.
If you truly believe the rain will come down,
just listen to the small whisper sound."

"We all seem to have it, but that bunny and bird,
don't pay attention, they think it's absurd.
Let faith guide your path, young flowery prince,
The rain that you seek will smell of sweet mints."

The rodent ran off, with one last whip of its tail,
after moments of watching all he could see was its nail.
A reliving sigh came from his mouth,
as he felt the first drop come from the south.

He kept his faith and kept it quite nicely,
despite all the calling of things that seemed feisty.
"Be patient," he says, "and have faith in a glint."
With that phrase said, he could smell the sweet mint.
A poem I made when I thought of a flower, sitting in a meadow, waiting for rain to drop onto it and give it what it needs.

There is meaning in this poem, all you have to do is find it. :D.
